Professional Development
Welcome to the Professional Development page for North Carolina Title II educators, where research shows that the quality of instruction is the greatest predictor of student success. Since 2012, we have offered a robust credentialing system that equips educators with evidence-based teaching methodologies tailored to Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), and English as a Second Language (ESL).
Our offerings include five core credentialing courses such as the Core Credential, ASE Math, ESL Fundamentals, and the Standards-in-Action Credential, all provided online through the NCCC CCR Moodle Portal. These ten-week, asynchronous courses feature scheduled weekly assignments and are accessible to full- and part-time instructors, as well as community-based volunteers. Scholarships are available for eligible participants, with applications open six weeks prior to the course start date. Before applying, instructors are encouraged to discuss their professional development goals with their program director.
Our newest offering, the Generative AI Boot Camp for Adult Ed Professionals, is a five-week course designed to help educators harness the power of AI for lesson planning, creating engaging instructional materials, and streamlining administrative tasks. This course, while not credentialed, provides optional live Zoom sessions and is ideal for instructors looking to innovate their teaching practices with AI tools.
In addition to credentialing courses, we offer a wide range of on-demand courses and recorded webinars for directors and instructors, providing flexible learning opportunities to enhance leadership and instructional skills. On-demand courses cover key topics while recorded webinars focus on program management and instructional strategies.
