GED® Testing Service
- $104 for full GED® test (battery)
- $144 for online proctored full GED® test (battery)
- $36 for each subject for online proctored test

HiSET® Testing Service
- $75 for computer-based battery ($15 per section)
- $162.50 for HiSET Test at Home battery ($32.50 per section)
- $75 for paper-based total test-taker fee (battery)
- Computer or paper-based test on 5 subjects

- Science
- Social Studies
- Mathematics
- Ability to retake the test up to two times for free
NOTE!! HiSET® testing is the only HSE assessment administered at the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Adult Correctional Facilities.
For 2024 Testing
A security/emergency plan must be established and submitted to the HSE Office prior to administration of any HSE test. Please ensure that this plan has been submitted to the HSE office prior to the first GED or HiSET test administration of the 2024 calendar year.
A walkthrough video, with guidance on how to complete the Security Information and Emergency Plan Form (this link is disabled), can be found here. Each chief examiner must complete this plan annually to communicate their security/emergency protocol to the HSE office.
